I began installing the Brennans Garage disc brake brackets that came with my '48 2A. I finished up the drivers side this past weekend. It is an easy installation for the front axle, I bought the calipers, rotors, wheel bearings, seals from rock auto. There are three commonly used Ohm ratings for fuel gauges. 0-90 Ohm is used commonly on GM products. 70-10 Ohm is common to Ford/Chrysler. 240-33 Ohm is the most commonly used in after market gauges. These three gauges also have compatible sending units. The low range is 4.79:1. The gear is 6.4” diameter and the teeth are about flush with the outside of the case.

1948 CJ2A - It goes nowhere fast, but anywhere slow. I also used the mechanical switch and haven't looked back, on three jeeps ,always works! There are several previous threads about the mechanical switch conversion. Not only is it more reliable, but it is easy to do and requires no change in the wiring.

I had rebuilt it twice over the last 35 years or so. I replaced it this time and I'll hang on to the old one. This shows the rounded body as mentioned above. May 3, 2011 · I've looked around and found quite a few wiring diagrams for stock 6v but none really for a 12V alternator set up. This is the diagram from cj-2a.com. The fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump is 5/16” and the vent line from the fuel pump is 1/4”. Hopefully the fittings on the tank will reflect the proper line sizes. FYI. Looks like I have (1) 1/4" and (2) 1/8" outlets. The 1/4" was plugged and the (2) 1/8" were return and feed.

An M-38 drivers seat frame is different than a CJ3A, the front right mounting foot is completely different from a CJ3A. So keep in mind if you find standard CJ3A seat frames the fronts will bolt into the same holes as the 2A frame. Not so with the M-38 frame. If it was a new GPW engine that was installed later as a replacement for the original Willys engine serial number CJ2A-34630, then perhaps the installer stamped the GPW engine A 34630 to keep the numerical part of the original CJ2A engine serial number in the jeep.
